The horizontal sundial shown on this page is located in the small fishing village of Amble which is in Northumberland, on the East coast of Northern England.  It is at Latitude 55° 20' 12" N; Longitude 1º 34' 18" W.  Patrick Powers, who is responsible for the British Sundial Society sundial registry, was involved in the design and construction of the sundial.  For more information about this sundial please visit his web site at: ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/Patrick_Powers/amble.htm

The community decided to turn an uninteresting car park into a square with a central sundial 12m in diameter and 7.5m high with a small 50 seat amphitheatre and a winding path with plaques designed by school children to mention events in the town's history. The sundial was officially opened on the 27th May 2001 as a part of the Annual Amble Carnival Celebrations.
